The Top 25 Private Equity firms by Portfolio Company holdings

We recently analyzed private equity firms portfolio company data to determine which firms are holding the most companies.

The top 25 private equity firms by count, or 1.1% of all firms, currently hold around 11% of all portfolio company platform investments. 

The median number of active platform investments for firms is 7. Half of the PE firms hold more than 7 current platform investments and half hold fewer than 7. This has not changed since the last time we reported on this in April 2023.
